Letter from Headteacher
Mrs Jane Arden
Dear LEHF Parents,
If I was asked which book I had read the most in my life it was would be ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’, partly out of pleasure and partly from the fact that I chose it as an literature text to read with my students.
It tells the story of a man wrongly accused of rape. His lawyer, Atticus Finch knows he will lose the legal case (because the accused is black) but takes it anyway as he says he could not live with himself if he didn’t. Atticus Finch is a moral compass in a small community, his children watch and learn from their father and having initially thought that their father was too old to do anything, they come to realise how brave their father is and how respected he is within the community.
As parents we act as a moral compass to our children; this book was written in 1952, however its key messages still ring true; you never know a person until you stand in their shoes and walk around in them, as painful as it is sometimes, the truth should always prevail and finally the court of opinion is very dangerous. In the novel, the facts are dealt with by lawyers in a court not in the streets of the town.
As teachers and parents, it is our job to teach our children to have compassion and the courage to do the right thing. After all, we want the children to have the integrity needed to live happily and safely within our school community.
Best regards,
Mrs Jane Arden

Prep School
Letter
from Ms Bateman
Hello LEHF parents,
This term is flying by, I can’t believe we are nearly at the end of the summer term. The summer term is always one of the busiest terms in the school year, and this week has been no exception to that. We have had our first round of Prep Talks, students wowed us with topics from “How the surrounding world can change you” to “ Evolution of war and its effect”. The students participated in the most enthusiastic way possible, they were graded on their Confidence, Topic relevancy, Humor, Research quality, Personal presentation, and Presentation of the topic. It was a very close result with many students scoring 1 or 2 points just below the grade required to go through to the next round. This shows me just how dedicated and passionate the students are about doing their best in Prep School. Commendations on such a fantastic achievement by every Prep student. Congratulations to our twelve students who made it through to our next round.
We were all treated to a fantastic play in assembly today by the Year five class. The scene was taken from their class book “The Wee free men” by Terry Pratchett. Well-done Year five a brilliant scene some of the blue face paint may take some scrubbing off!
All the students this week have been involved in assessments, however, I have to say a huge congratulations to the older upper key stage, Y5 and Y5/6 students who have taken their assessments in exam conditions preparing them ready for secondary exams in the future. A huge well done everyone.
Have a wonderful restful weekend.

Everywhere you look at LEH Foshan students are busy preparing for external examinations and internal end-of-year exams. At LEH we are mindful of students’ well-being and in the Mathematics Department, we like to intersperse revision with activities to enhance the students learning but to also get them out of their seats.
